**In Loving Memory of Frances Scarborough**
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frances (Bell) Scarborough, affectionately known as Franny, who left this world on May 20, 2026. Born in Philadelphia on June 3, 1943, and raised in West Chester, Franny spent her adult life in Coatesville with her family on the Swisher Farm. Franny was a beacon of joy and laughter, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Franny was the beloved daughter of Marie (nee Watson) and James Bell, and the treasured younger sister of Regina (Falcone). Though her parents and sister have preceded her in death, their love and spirit will forever guide her memory.
From her early years at Bishop Shanahan School, where her laughter first echoed through the halls, to her days as the captivating singer of her high school band, the Teen Tones, Franny embraced each moment with a joyful heart. She found her soulmate, Leonard, at one of the many dance halls they attended, where their 60 year love story began—a tale filled with tender dances and many loving moments.
As a devoted mother to Mike (Cindy) and Mary (John), and a proud grandmother to Marissa, Ryan, Dylan, and Morgan, as well as a great-grandmother to little Rowan, Franny’s life was woven with familial bonds that radiated warmth and affection. Her home was a sanctuary of love, filled with laughter, stories, and many holiday parties.
Franny’s professional journey began at the Philadelphia Electric Company. She later brought her infectious energy to the Coatesville Senior Center as the Program Director, where she touched countless lives, making each day a little brighter for everyone she met. Her ability to uplift others was a true gift, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to cross her path.
The world paused in mourning when Franny departed, but she would remind us to hold on to the joy she embodied. In her spirit, let us continue to laugh, be grateful for the love surrounding us, and perhaps, share “just one more” laugh or a cold drink in her memory.
A time of sharing will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2026 at 12:00 noon with a time of visitation from 10:00 AM till the sharing time at the Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home 339 W. Kings Hwy, Coatesville, PA. Burial will follow the sharing time at Hibernia Cemetery, Coatesville, PA.
