On February 18, 2026, Betty Ann Arrowood (Walus), 94, passed away peacefully, in her sleep in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, where she resided with her granddaughter and her family.

Born in Ashley, Pennsylvania, Betty was the daughter of Benjamin Walus and Mary E. Niec. She attended St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish School in Coatesville, PA. Betty was a hard worker and held many positions throughout her career. Her two favorite positions were her first job at Newberry’s, selling candy, and her last job at Shoprite, slicing deli meat. She loved to tell stories about how she ‘ate more candy than she sold’ at the candy counter.

Betty is survived by her children, Allen Armentrout, Robert Armentrout (Linda), Deborah Reynolds, 6 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, her siblings, Mary Ann Caridi (Freddie), Bernard Walus, and Anthony Walus (Donna), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Joseph, and her son, Gregory (Cheri).

Betty carried a special light and loved to laugh, especially at her own jokes. In her younger days, she loved to craft and paint ceramics. When she moved in with her granddaughter, she rediscovered that passion with her great grandchildren. She loved all things sweet, especially donuts, but there’s nothing she loved more than a ‘beer with a nice head on it’. Betty loved Christmas time with her whole heart and took pride in turning her home into a winter wonderland for the holidays. Most recently, she had discovered a love for puzzles and she made sure everyone she came across knew she ‘still had a good noodle’. Her sense of humor was a shining light to those around her.

Perhaps the most important thing to note about Betty was her determination to overcome any obstacle that came her way and an unwavering faith that made sure she saw each battle through. In 2021, she was told by doctors that the wound on her ankle would not heal and that she would never walk again. Betty’s response was a confident ‘They are not God’. She was right. From there, she was in and out of the hospital countless times. Every single time, she made sure to remind everyone once again that the doctors were not God and that they did not have all the answers. Once her family was told that even someone ten years younger than her would not survive all of the medical obstacles she was facing. Betty proved them wrong yet again with her faith and determination. It seems fitting that her favorite quote was, ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way’. She never gave up on herself or on God and because of that, she was afforded more years than most.

The final years of Betty’s life were spent living with her granddaughter, Jessica (Charlie) who was like another daughter to her. Multiple generations came together to help Betty continue living when all odds were stacked against her. Her one wish was to remain with family and that wish was granted. Not only did Deborah and Jessica care for her, but her great grandchildren (Keirsten, Nicolena, Kayla, Luca, Molly, and Cameron), and even her great grandchild (Lilly)

did, as well. This is a testament to how loved and special Betty was and always will be. She had so many people in addition to her direct care that loved her, prayed for her, and supported her journey.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday February 24, 2026 11:00 AM at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church 2835 Manor Rd. Coatesville, PA with a time of visitation from 10:00 AM till the service at the church.  Burial will follow the service at All Souls Cemetery, Coatesville, PA.
