Granville W Crothers, 80 of Coatesville

Granville or “Granny” or “Beanie” as he was known to his friends passed away on August 11, 2024 at the age of 80.
He was the loving husband to Charlotte Fehlinger Crothers.
Born on June 9, 1944, in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Alton Little Crothers and Trula Mae Willis Racz.
Granville worked for Lukens Steel Co for over 50 years. He was the plant wide coordinator for the company’s annual charity drive benefiting United Way of Chester County.
Granville was a kind and gentle man who loved his family above all. He enjoyed early morning walks with his dog. He loved traveling and meeting new people.
On one trip to Paris, he met a homeless man and his dog on his morning walk. Granville spoke no French and the man spoke no English, yet they became friends. Every morning Granville bought two coffees, one for himself and one for the homeless man, and two breakfast sandwiches, one for the man and one for his dog. On his last day in Paris, Granville conveyed his goodbyes to the man. As he went to turn away the homeless man enveloped him in a hug. This illustrates the type of man Granville was.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son John Lawrence Crothers from King of Prussia, a sister Mary J. Bruno of Coatesville, sister-in-law Malvina Ray and several other family members.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter Jennifer Crothers, brothers Charles, William, Donald, Robert, James, Thomas and sisters Carrie, Ann and Francis.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 24, 2024 at 12:00 noon with a time of visitation from 11:00 AM till the service at the Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home 339 West Kings Highway, Coatesville, PA. Interment will be private.
