A loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister peacefully passed away on September 1st, 2021 after battling a short, but intense fight with cancer.
Lucienne “Lucia” van Toor was born on May 15, 1965 in Arnhem, The Netherlands to Gerrie van Toor-Kolk and the late Jan van Toor. She was the sister to Christa and Hugo.
She grew up in Arnhem where she attended high school where she met her husband, Ton de Vries. They married on June 3rd, 1992 and raised two children, Bas and Michelle “Mickey”.
While living in the Arnhem area of the Netherlands, Lucienne worked in fashion and administration. She also enjoyed her skiing and hiking in the French Alps. In addition to raising two kids, she also trained her dogs and loved to spend time with friends and family.
After moving to the United States in 2008, she helped her family adjust and settle in Unionville, PA and started to work for Bentley Systems in Exton, PA in 2011.
During her time at Bentley Systems, helping and teaching colleagues brought her joy. Most of all, she helped everyone navigate both the culture and the business at Bentley with a smile.
Lucienne was proud to see Bas and Mickey building up their own life. First on their own, and now with the love and support of Bas’s girlfriend, Katie and Mickey’s boyfriend, Adrian.
Lucienne is survived by her mother Gerrie van Toor-Kolk, her husband Ton de Vries, her son Bas de Vries and daughter Michelle “Mickey” de Vries, her sister Christa van Toor, her brother Hugo van Toor and sister-in-law Monique, and her beloved dog Jackie.
Memorial service will be held at Maclean-Chamberlain funeral home, 339 West Kings Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320 on Friday September 10th. The memorial ceremony will start at 10AM, followed by time to pay respect and say goodbye to Lucienne at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name can be made to the following organizations:
