Edward Maurice Atkinson, a.k.a. Crazy Eddie, of Romansville, died January 5, 2026 at home surrounded by love, after a brave battle with an illness. He was 53 years young. He is survived by his wife Emily, whom he shared 20 years with, two children and his sister.
Born on September 29th 1972, Eddie lived a life full of laughter, good times, loyalty, and love, wearing his heart on his sleeve for others. He was a hard worker, believing you are how you work and that all you had to do was get up off your ass. Running heavy equipment was his passion, he did so for years and was touted the best at it by all who witnessed- he was who you called when you needed something done.
He enjoyed the outdoors, loved the river, enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, and was always up for a project, or at least telling you how it should be done.
He loved having a few Budweiser’s, telling good stories, all of which believe it or not, as farfetched as they seemed were witnessed and experienced by many to be true. He had a gift for making people laugh, and was famous for his perfectly timed one-liners, which those around him affectionately called “Eddie-isms.”
He will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His presence was one that made life lighter, louder, and more fun, and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to share the journey with him.
As per Eddie’s request, there will be no funeral- Eddie hated funerals. He believed if you didn’t come see him while he was here, what good did it do to visit “him” and cry for him when he was gone. He loved a good party; a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In honor of Eddie, go on down to the well tonight, and drink till you get your fill. Have a Budweiser, maybe smoke a left hander and overall have yourself a good time.
