Nancy Lou Harple Culbertson

Nancy L. Culbertson entered Eternal Rest, peacefully, on August 13, 2026, at The Meadows Healthcare Center, Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook, PA, after a brief illness.   Nancy Lou Harple was born on January 5, 1932 in Bondsville, East Brandywine Township, PA.  Nancy was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Harple and the granddaughter of the late Vernon and Bertha Mae Laird Harple. Nancy grew up in Bondsville, Little Washington, Corner Ketch and Lyndell, in East Brandywine Township.  Nancy attended a one room school in East Brandywine Township and Coatesville Area Schools including Scott High School.

Nancy married Raymond W. Culbertson in 1948 and they shared 51 years until his passing in April 2000. The family resided on Ray’s Way in Modena where Nancy was a member of the Modena Firehouse Ladies Auxiliary.

Nancy and Raymond were blessed with children: Judy (Peter) Culeman of Malvern, Barbara Finley (Tim, who passed in 2020) of Honey Brook, Louis (Franny) Culbertson of Modena, and Edward Culbertson of  Lancaster County.  Their daughter Ruth Ann Culbertson passed away in 1949 and their son Richard T. Culbertson passed away in 1994. Nancy’s large family included 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Nancy was the matriarch of Culbertson family who unassumingly lived life on her terms.  She managed a loving home which was always welcoming to extended family and friends.  She attended East Brandywine Baptist Church in her youth and later the First Baptist Church of Coatesville.  She always assured that her children attended Sunday School.  Nancy enjoyed old movies and embroidery.  She found pleasure in jigsaw puzzles, coloring books, crossword puzzles, trivia, BINGO, word games, reading books, and the Phillies.  Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, and mom-mom who will be greatly missed by those who loved her.

The family expresses appreciation to the Team Members at Tel Hai Retirement Community for the love and care that Nancy received in Meadows Healthcare Center, Lakeview Personal Care, and to Compassus Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Tel Hai Retirement Community, Attention: Development, P.O. Box 190, Honey Brook, PA 19344 for the Care Assurance Fund. This fund provides care for residents who outlive their resources.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Saturday, August 22, 2026 at The Tel Hai Chapel, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, PA. 19344, at 11AM.  The family will receive guests beginning at 10AM.
