Joan Mitros, 89, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.
Joan was the beloved wife of Stephen Mitros Jr., with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Born on April 18, 1937, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sofie Byerly.
Joan worked as an elementary school cafeteria worker, but spent most of her time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren.
In addition to her devoted husband, Joan is survived by her sons, Stephen Mitros III and Robert Mitros; her daughter in law, Theresa Mitros; her grandchildren, Robert (Jen), Brian (Kel), Joseph (Alaina), and Lauren (John); her cherished great-grandchildren, Kayden, Lenni, Olivia, Jack, Annie, Robert, Michael, and Emily; and her brother, Harry (Madge) Byerly Jr, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Catholic Prayer Service on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Maclean-Chamberlain Funeral Home, Inc., 339 West Kings Highway, Coatesville, PA. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
