Gilbert Edward Mowery
Gilbert E. Mowery of Exton, PA passed away on September 6, 2025, in Paoli Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Cheryl Mowery, to whom he was married for 37 years.
Born June 9, 1958, in Bellefonte, PA, Gil was the son of the late Glenn E. Mowery and Amy (Loy) Mowery. He graduated from Great Valley High School where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball. During his senior year, Gil completed coursework at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and went on to earn a B.A. from Amherst College in Massachusetts, graduating cum laude. In 1983, he published Animal Homily, a children’s book of poetry. An avid sports fan, Gil enjoyed cheering on the Phillies, Eagles and Sixers.
Gil had been a member of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Malvern growing up, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lionville where he and Cheryl raised their family. In addition to his wife, Gil is survived by son, Brandon and wife Keithlin; son Bryan; sister Chelle and husband Drew; his first grandchild Ella; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held September 26, 2025, at 11am at Philadelphia Memorial Park Frazer, PA followed by a celebration of life at Cheryl’s home. “
